Description:
Since time began, there have been Nightwalkers - the races of the night who live in the shadows of the moonlight. Love with humans is absolutely forbidden, and one man makes certain to uphold this ancient law: Jacob, the Enforcer...For 700 Years, He has resisted temptation. But not tonight...Jacob knows the excuses his people give when the madness overtakes them and they fall prey to their lust for humans. He's heard every one and still brought the trespassers to justice. Immune to forbidden desires, uncontrollable hungers, or the curse of the moon, his control is total...until the moment he sees Isabella on a shadowy New York City street. Saving her life wasn't in his plans. Nor were the overwhelming feelings she arouses in him. But the moment he holds her in his arms and feels the soft explosion of her body against his, everything changes. Their attraction is undeniable, volatile, and completely against the law. Suddenly everything Jacob has ever believed is inflamed by the heat of desire...Bring on the night (from Goodreads).
My Thoughts:
Jacob is the first book in The Nightwalker series by Jacquelyn Frank. I’ve seen these books on the shelves of the bookstores but until now I’ve never picked them up. Which was my mistake.
Jacob, is the name of the main male character and he in Enforcer among his people, who happen to be Demons. This was a very interesting story and it held my attention all the way to the end. I liked Jacob, he is a very strong character and likeable. He is hard around the edges but that is because of what he does to protect his people from themselves and to protect humans. I was so glad when he med Isabella, they are very well suited together.
Isabella is a human, at least she thinks she is. She is smart, funny, fun, spunky and tough. She is very likable character, like Jacob, maybe that is why there are suited for each other. She does not rely on Jacob for everything, she stands on her own two feet, even though it is harder considering the link between the two.
The story line was good, interesting and engaging. There was nice bit of action, but there is more romance which is kind of expected after all it is paranormal romance. Since this is a part of the series, this book also introduces us to number of other characters that you will meet down the road, some of them in their own story.
Over all this was a very enjoyable book and I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. It had a love story, action, it is well plotted out and nicely written. You will not be disappointed.
I give this book STARS out of STARS.

The Renegade Hunter (Rogue Hunter #3, Argeneau # 12) by Lynsay Sands
Description:
Nicholas Argeneau was once a successful hunter who went after rogue vampires who broke the immortal law. Except no one has mentioned his name in the last fifty years, not since he turned into a rogue himself. But once a hunter, always a hunter. When Nicholas sees a bloodthirsty sucker terrifying a woman, it's second nature for him to come to her rescue. He had no idea he would also want to kiss her senseless . . .
One minute Josephine Willan is taking in a breath of fresh air, and the next sharp fangs are heading straight for her neck! Luckily, a gorgeous stranger saves her life . . . and gets locked up for his troubles. Can a man who kisses so lovingly and passionately really have committed the crime he's accused of? Jo isn't so sure . . . and she's determined to prove that this renegade hunter is worth fighting for (from Goodreads).
My Thoughts:
I have always been fan of Lynsay Sands The Argeneau series, I have been following this series since I discovered this author and that has been while ago. I do not know what it is about these books but I always get excited about reading them. I mean I have my favourites and then I have my not so favourites, but that is how it goes with all series.
This was the 12th book in The Argeneau series and 3rd book in the Rogue series. This story was about Nicholas Argeneau, who is believed to a Rogue and he believes it himself as well. But he does not behave like any Rogue that I have encountered so far in these series. His female interest is Josephine Willan, who is actually Sam’s (she is Mortimer’s life mate) sister. I liked Jo, she is such a delightful and refreshing character, she is funny, honest, does not believe everything people tell her, and spunky. She is the first one to believe, actually she never believed, that Nicholas was Rogue.
I liked Nicholas’s character as well, he was very interesting character and I wanted to learn more about his history. The author only gives you the basics, to keep the story flowing. I felt so sad for him, about how he lost his first life mate and what his life was since. I was rooting for him throughout the whole book even thought I new the outcome.
Interaction between Nicholas and Jo was very interesting, even though their romantic relationship developed very quickly, I mean at the very beginning of the book. However, this fast romantic relationship development works in this book, I think it fits the story line very well. The story line was good, even though it was very predictable. I do wish that the resolution of Nicholas’s rogue statues was bit more exciting, bit more dramatic, in a way it was anticlimactic.
Overall I really did enjoy reading this book and I am already looking forward to the next book in the series. I give this book 4 STARS out of 5 STARS.

Market (Eternal Guardians #1) by Elisabeth Naughton
Description:
THERON – Dark haired, duty bound and deceptively deadly. He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld.
From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.
She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.
As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a fun and a fast read. It is not a big book, but it focuses a lot on the romance between Theron and Casey whom I loved.
Both of them were well written characters, there were realistic and not over the top. I liked the fact that their romance develops throughout the book, rather than the two of them professing their love right in the first two chapters.
I likes Casey, like I already mentioned she is down to earth, hard working, fun person and not a push over like Theron expected her to be. Theron on other hand, is an Argonaut guardian, he is traditional male character of the romance novels. He is hot, strong, intelligent, did I say hot. I especially liked this book of the situation that Theron was placed in, the struggle to chose between his duty to his people and Casey.
Another thing that this book focuses is building of the mythological Gods, alternative world, immortals and male/female roles in Argolean society. This alternative world that author writes about is very intriguing and I want to know more about it. I also want to know more about the Olympian Gods and more interaction with them and characters, like we have seen with Hades.
I would recommend this book to all paranormal romance lovers out there, especially those who like mythology. This book has everything, romance, some fighting, mystery, Gods, and hot steamy scenes. Actually nothing to steamy, this book is quite mild in sex scene department comparing to so other books. However do not be discouraged if that is what you are looking for. Steamy scenes are very tastefully done and hot.
I give this books 4 STARS out of 5 STARS.

Hush, Hush (Hush. Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Description:
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life (from goodreads).
My Thougths:
This is the second time I’ve read this book. First time I read it, it was when it first was released and before my blog. So since Crescendo will be released soon, I thought it would be best to re-read it again.
I think I forgot how much I enjoyed reading this book. When I read it first time around I did not know what to expect, but I was surprised how much I liked it. Second time around I still like it but I realised I forgot a lot of things that happened in the book, so good thing that I read it again.
Also, I have to mention the cover for this book. Isn’t it just awesome? I love it. I would buy this book just for its cover, because I am a big sucker for nice covers.
I really liked Nora’s character, I mean what’s not to like. She is intelligent, kind, resourceful, little bit too suspicious and many other good qualities. I liked her because she is down to earth and she very realistic character, someone that you can identify for the most part. Nora’s best friend Vee, at first I liked her but the more I read the less I liked her. Especially towards the end of the book, when Nora tells her that certain someone showed up drunk and pretty much attacked her. Vee, who is Nora’s best friend tries to justify his actions, this was the point when I was not very impressed with Vee. However Vee does have some good qualities as well and she is very funny, especially her categorization of diet foods.
I really enjoyed Patch’s character, he was such well written character. He is mysterious, dangerous and you just can not help but like him, even though you are suspicious of his intentions. I liked how the author took time to develop the relationship between Patch and Nora. She took time to set up the story, there was instant attraction, at least on Nora’s part.
I liked the fact that the story line was fast paced, mysterious, you do not find out who the bad guy is till the end, but you can probably guess it. The story grabs readers attention from the beginning and keeps you interested to the very end. I am looking forward to reading Crescendo which is being released soon .
Overall, I give this book 4 STARS out of 5 STARS.

Black Dust Mambo (Hoodoo # 1) by Adrian Phoenix
Description:
"There will be times, girl, when all your magic ain't going to be enough, times when it will seem to dry up like mud under the noonday sun, or even make matters worse . . ."
Kallie Riviere, a fiery Cajun hoodoo apprentice with a talent for trouble, finds herself smack-dab in the middle of one of those times her mentor warned her about when she visits New Orleans to attend the Hecatean Alliance's annual carnival: her hard-bodied conjurer hookup ends up dead in her blood-drenched bed. And he was killed by something that Kallie would never dream of touching -- the darkest of dark juju, soul-eating juju -- a black dust hex that may have been meant to kill her.
Now Kallie has to use every bit of hoodoo knowledge and bayou-bred mojo she possesses to clear her own name and find the killer -- even as that dark sorcerer hunts Kallie and her friends. But Kallie's search for the truth soon leads her in a direction she never anticipated -- back home to Bayou Cypres Noir, and to Gabrielle LaRue, Kallie's aunt, protector, and hoodoo mentor . . . who is looking more and more like she just might be the one who wants Kallie dead (from Goodreads).
My Thoughts:
I picked u this book at the bookstore a week ago, and I am so glad that I did. This book was awesome, I just loved it.
Kallie is a hoodoo, a magical practitioner; she finds her lover dead, not just dead but his soul is dead too. Someone has a big grudge against Kallie, so big of a grudge that they wanted her dead body and soul. Kallie set out to find out who wants her dead before any more people die because of her.
I like Kallie’s character, she is a strong female character who can hold her own. She does not run from danger but deals with it head on. Her character is very well developed and realistic. I especially liked and it made me laugh each time Kallie’s tendency to punch people. What made it funny was the fact that Bell, tells her to wait ten seconds before she punches someone. Do you think Kallie made it ten seconds?
Also, other characters such as her best friend Bell, who was one of my favourite characters. She was funny and fun person to be around. I especially enjoyed her in the scene at the wet boxers contest. Layne and Dallas, their characters were also nicely written and very well fit into the story. I liked both of them and look forward reading more about them in the future books.
The story line is very well developed and believable. The story is set in Louisiana, were people are steeped in mystery and magic and full of folklore. I was impressed, the author obviously put a lot of effort into her research for the Hoodoo book, and I believe it paid off. It was fast paced and never dull, there was a lot of fact and people to remember but still it was a good read. However I did wish for more explanations for the terms that the author uses. They are terms that refer to hoodoo, but I had no idea what they meant. It thru me off a little.
Overall this was a very good book. I enjoyed it very much and I am looking forward to he book two. I would recommend this book to all who enjoy urban fantasy type of book, you will not be disappointed.
I give this book 5 STARS out of 58 STARS.
