Description:
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.
Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.
Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her (from Goodreads).
My Thoughts:
I must say this was an excellent book. Also, I loved the cover, it is hard not to pick up a book with this cover. It just draws you in. I know that I should not judge books by their cover but I do it anyway. Seriously, when you have to make a choice person is most likely to pick up a book with an intriguing cover rather than a boring and plain one. At least that is my view on the covers.
Back to the story, as I said this was an excellent read and I am already looking forward to the second book in the series. Also I just recently released that most of the books, in YA, are series. Pretty much all the book in paranormal genre are series.
Anyways, I liked the story line and its characters. They were intriguing. However I do wish that there was more action in the book. Because the only real action that we do see is at the end.
I really likes Luce’s character, she was down to earth teenager and not a drama queen, or annoying. She was smart and fun, type of characters I like to read about.
Daniel was fun and interesting character too. I also felt sorry for him. Can you imagine to be in his shoes, lose the person you love over and over again and there is nothing you can do. For Luce, at least she did not remember, but for Daniel it was harder. I really liked the relationship storyline between the two. It kept moving at the right pace and you just had to keep reading to find out more.
I also enjoyed some if the secondary characters, Penny, Cam, Ariann (I think that was her name). They were interesting characters, especially Cam and I am looking to read more about him. I wander what will happen between him and Luce. Because there was some attraction there, even though she is (or thinks) she is in love with Daniel. I guess I will have to wait and see in the next book of the series.
Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
