Description: When Sarah McKinley is finally able to buy and restore the historic Florida mansion that she has always loved, she dismisses the horror stories of past residents vanishing and a long-dead housekeeper who practiced black magic. Then, in the midst of renovations, she makes a grim discovery. Hidden within the walls of Sarah's dream house are the remains of dozens of bodies—some dating back over a century.
The door to the past is blown wide open when Caleb Anderson, a private investigator, shows up at the mansion. He believes several current missing-persons cases are linked to the house and its dark past. Working together to find the connection and stop a contemporary killer, Sarah and Caleb are compelled to research the history of the haunted house, growing closer to each other even as the solution to the murders eludes them.
But there is one who knows the truth…a spirit who follows every move they make. Soon Caleb begins to fear that if he can't stay a step ahead, he could lose Sarah to a killer with an ability to transcend time in a quest for blood and sacrifice (from Goodreads).
My Thoughts:
I have read many books by this author and liked pretty much all of them, and it was nothing different with this one.
I love books about ghosts and supernatural, obviously that’s why most books that I read are paranormal. Anyways, I have gotten this book a while ago and it took me long time to actually pick it up and read it. I am not sure why, but few days ago I decided that it was time to read it.
It was an excellent book, it was fast paced which I like. Because I hate when it takes 150 pages for a book to start being good. Characters were well developed and likable, and enjoyed reading this book very much.
I have always liked book that has some history to them, because I do think of myself as a history buff. It is a story set in a small, St. Augustine town, its full of history and lots of tourist pass through each year. Sarah McKinley purchases a Colonia mention, that she plans to renovate and turn into a B&B. however her plans are interrupted, by the discovery of the body in the walls. If that is not creepy enough there is a serial killer on the loose in town as well. There are two women missing, and that brings Caleb Anderson into the town, were he is trying to find the two missing women.
As the book progresses a relationship develops between Caleb and Sarah. The two of them are trying to solve the missing woman case; there is a lot of twist and turns, and there is a surprising ending. Lets just say it was a surprise as too who the murderer is.
But I will not go any further I do not wish to ruin the book for everyone.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars, and I would recommend this book to all those readers out there that like ghost stories, legends or any kind of paranormal.
